Finite Element (FE) Analysis:

We can offer FE analysis on structures, piping and machine rotors (rotor dynamic analysis). From ‘as built’ drawings and weights of major vessels and equipment, complex structures can be modelled on computer. The model can be fine tuned from the results of modal analysis and structural frequency response testing obtained on site to ensure very high accuracy. All of the natural frequencies of interest can then be determined for the identification of resonances. In addition, the stresses in all types of joints can be determined as well as the stresses through the material for crack growth, all of which are very important for structural integrity assessment.

Finite Element (FE) Analysis
The FE model is very useful when redesigning existing structures to determine the affects of changes before the actual structure is changed. The figure on the left shows an example of a FE model of a complex piping system.

We can carry out rotor dynamic analysis of machine rotors using FE techniques to determine mode shapes and lateral and torsional critical speeds. In addition, we can offer a redesign service whereby unstable rotor / bearing systems can be redesigned and we can assist in the final installation and commissioning of the redesigned machine.
